Ask about the task
- Open the Code session you want to discuss.
- Choose Add a panel → Side chat.
- Select an available Side chat model.
- Enter your question in Ask the side chat and choose Send message.
- Read the answer beside the Code transcript and verify relevant files yourself before using it as editing guidance.
For example, ask what a reported command failure means or which open question remains in the task. If you want an actual code change, bring the decision back to the main Code composer with the appropriate permissions.
Understand context and access
The text request builds context from the current or persisted Code transcript and the workspace identity. That is not a live reading of every file or a guarantee that all earlier work fits in the model’s input. State essential details when they are absent from the transcript.
In this build, the Side chat context ring uses a fixed display value. Do not treat its percentage as measured consumption or remaining provider allowance. Use actual model errors and usage observations when investigating limits.
Side chat text runs through the Chat connection; an external coding subscription does not automatically cover it. The selected model and API setup can differ from the main task’s harness.
Voice and stopping
Use Start voice session when offered for live discussion, and End voice session to end the call. Typed messages during a live voice session go through that voice conversation. Dictate message is a separate speech-to-text action; Stop response interrupts the text answer.
