Download and install Rudr

Get the desktop app

Open the GitHub releases link above. No account, access request, or approval is required to download a published installer.
Choose an installer matching your machine from the assets listed with a release. GitHub contains the current installer options and release notes.
Download the installer asset. GitHub’s Source code ZIP and tar.gz archives are not installers.

On macOS, open the DMG, drag Rudr into Applications, eject the DMG, and launch Rudr from Applications. On Windows, run the available matching installer and follow its prompts. During welcome setup, choose Continue as Guest (Local Offline Mode) or sign in to a Rudr account, then complete onboarding. See what requires sign-in.

Check the actual release notes for minimum OS requirements and signing/notarization status. Do not disable system security controls as a routine fix for installation errors. Installer availability is listed on GitHub; support for a provider CLI on a platform does not establish a Rudr desktop release.

Update an existing installation

In builds that include the checker, open Settings → Updates, then choose Download update when a newer release is available. Downloading does not replace the installed app.

Finish active runs, save your work, and quit Rudr before installing. On Mac, replace the existing Rudr copy in Applications using the new DMG, then relaunch. Do not delete app-data folders. Confirm the installed version in Settings and check your saved sessions and configuration. See Update Rudr for full steps and recovery states.

Older builds without this checker need one manual download from public GitHub releases to obtain it.

Keep the two sign-ins separate

Rudr sign-in is optional for local use and enables the account features listed here. It does not sign you in to Claude Code, Codex, or another provider, and does not combine their subscriptions. Once the app opens, go to Settings → Code Harnesses and follow the guide for your chosen integration.

If access or installation stalls

If website downloads remain unavailable, check the GitHub release assets for a compatible installer. If the installer fails, record the platform, architecture, version offered, and displayed error. Do not install a different architecture merely to bypass an error.

Once Rudr opens, use Start your first task. A missing coding CLI is a separate problem covered by installation and detection recovery.

Instructions have been reviewed against the application source; native setup and account walkthroughs remain to be verified. Platform and provider limitations are described above.
